No pictures today, but we did get to talk to Steven! He had a very short window of time to use his phone, and unfortunately the call got dropped twice during our short time to talk. His voice was a bit hoarse, but he sounded very positive and upbeat. Here are a few things to share:
*He has great roommates - one is from SC and the other is from NM.
*He has enjoyed a lot of the summer "as long as we're not in Bancroft Hall (the dorm)." It seems this is the place where they get the most attention from the detailers.
*They've done a lot of "rack races." We're not sure what this means but we think they're tests to see how fast they can make their beds.
*They are starting the sports period this week. He plans to try ultimate frisbee and see how that goes.
*He is able to go to the chapel on Sunday mornings (we think we heard there were donuts!), and he also went to the gospel service on Friday evening.
*The platoons are doing a rotation through the various activities: o-course, confidence course, shooting range, and sailing. He is really looking forward to the shooting and sailing.
*We thought it was funny that a highlight of his time there was getting his blood drawn! He said to be sure to tell Uncle Kyle that he was told he has excellent veins. But the part he was really excited about was that he got to sit down for 10 minutes and talk to some of the people in his platoon.
***Steven said he has gotten letters and packages and this is a high point of his day. Thank you for all of the support for Steven - he is very appreciative!
