Plebe Summer Day 7, 8, and 9

No new pictures of Steven to share; we're disappointed about it too, but we can tell you a tad bit about what he's been doing.

On Wednesday, they were supposed to do a noon meal formation. Unfortunately the temps were really high (the heat index was 107), and they couldn't complete the exercise. They were supposed to post pictures of the formation, but the weather prevented them from taking many pictures in the first place.

This afternoon, pictures were posted of midshipmen doing the obstacle course both Thursday and Friday. The pictures are organized by platoon, but his platoon has not been listed yet. We're thinking he's been able to do the obstacle course the last two days but hasn't been photographed going through it yet. But this is speculation on our part.

Below are some pictures from the o-course just so you can get an idea of what kind of things he's probably doing. We hope to share some more pictures of Steven with you soon! Thank you for your support and prayers!

Plebe Summer: Fun OUT of the sun!

This week USNA held a track meet for the plebe class - INSIDE! We don't have many details other than what you can see. The plebes rooted for their company's competitors, and it was so good to see the cheering,  camaraderie , and smiles. We'll put the pictures showing Steven first and then include a few others for you to enjoy and see what was happening at the Yard :-) Be sure to read to the bottom of the post! You can see Steven with his company in these two shots This is also M company - having a great time! Wow - things are getting down right fun over there with this company It was great to see that even those running (yes, more running) were having fun! There was even pole vaulting Aren't you just happy for these guys?!? FINALLY.....just in case you missed our FAVORITE runner (Thank you to Chrissey for finding this picture on FB!) And if you want to see why there is so much cheering and smiling at the track meet,  just remember that this is who Steven is usually runn...

Plebe Summer: Swimming, Parades and Academics

Steven and the rest of M Company continue to hone their skills in some of the same evolutions we've seen so far but it's still good to see them thriving. This past week Steven's class had swimming, martial arts, damage control and of course more PEP (morning physical training) evolutions.      It looks like Steven has had another visit to the barber shop - good to see they're concerned about keeping their hair short so they can continue to swim fast! M Company continues to look sharp with each parade - and from the picture galleries it's the result of several hours of parade practice. Steven's in the first full row, sixth one in.      It looks like M Company recently added another streamer to their guidon - the red one is titled "Parade" and the new, white one "Phase Two". We're really not too sure yet what that "Phase Two" means; however, in a recent letter Steven mentioned that they were preparing for an inspection (lots of s...

Plebe Summer Day 11

No pictures today, but we did get to talk to Steven! He had a very short window of time to use his phone, and unfortunately the call got dropped twice during our short time to talk. His voice was a bit hoarse, but he sounded very positive and upbeat.  Here are a few things to share: *He has great roommates - one is from SC and the other is from NM. *He has enjoyed a lot of the summer "as long as we're not in Bancroft Hall (the dorm)." It seems this is the place where they get the most attention from the detailers. *They've done a lot of "rack races." We're not sure what this means but we think they're tests to see how fast they can make their beds.  *They are starting the sports period this week. He plans to try ultimate frisbee and see how that goes. *He is able to go to the chapel on Sunday mornings (we think we heard there were donuts!), and he also went to the gospel service on Friday evening. *The platoons are doing a rotation through the vario...
